How to Measure Your Dog

The following is a guide to help you understand where to take the the different measurements on your dog.
There are 3 basic measurements that are detailed below; neck, girth and length.

Neck

The neck is measured all the way round at the point where your dog's collar would comfortably rest. This is the usually the point just above the top of the chest to the point just above the withers (high part of the back between the shoulders, at the base of the neck). For some breeds of dog this may be higher up on the neck.

Girth

The girth is the measurement of the chest, all the way around at the biggest part. This is usually from the withers (high part of the back between the shoulders, at the base of the neck) all the way around the point just behind the front legs.

Length

The length is the measurement of the topline, along the spine of your dog. This is measured from the point at the withers (high part of the back between the shoulders, at the base of the neck) to the base of the tail.
